more decca dl9700s and dl9800s
although none of these are signed, I am sure they are steinweiss. 1954 I think.
dl 9730s – five steinweiss covers from 1954
Here are a handful of Steinweiss covers, all 1954, mostly signed Piedra Blanca. Some of these records had good back covers also, I show one of those. I don’t know who designed it. A nice era for Steinweiss, not as … Continue reading
decca dl9500s 1951, 9600s 1954, and 9700s 1954 on.
The next seven covers in numerical order. The lone 9500 is probably not Steinweiss. The 9600s and 9700s definitely are, most of them are signed Piedra Blanca.
some recent acquisitions – more of the history of decca soundtracks
a few things I bought this week. Hooray for library book sale rooms. Most of these are the soundtrack albums that I believe Steinweiss redesigned for Decca in the mid-1950s. They are clearly meant to be a series, in which … Continue reading

my remaining steinweiss decca dl9400s, some beautiful stuff
All the Decca DL9400s that I have. All steinweiss, who also did the back covers and sometimes some of the inside illustrations. I show one of those insides, twice to space things correctly. Some of these are lovely in my … Continue reading
my first Decca DL9400s by Steinweiss
As I said in the last post, Decca’s use of numbers in the 9000 range is confusing. After the 9000-9100 series ends with the few early 60s ones in the last post, the numbers that I have skip to above … Continue reading
the remaining decca DL9000-9100s, a confusing bunch
These are my remaining Decca DL9000 and DL9100s. They don’t seem to go together, and don’t seem to go with the ones with numbers below 9060 that I posted previously. Here are three die-cut fold open covers. For two of … Continue reading
four more decca dl9000s steinweiss covers
The next four dl9000s. Early 1950s, definite steinweiss to my eye.
getting rid of my 78 rpms
In case anyone missed the notice a long time ago, I am selling off my 78 rpm collection. I simply can’t take proper care of it. This is your chance to acquire an original Steinweiss cover from his greatest period. … Continue reading
a great steinweiss series – the al jolson story
There is no denying that Steinweiss was at his best in the 1940s – the designs were beautiful, and stand as works of art on their own. Nevertheless, he remained a truly great designer throughout his career. Here, in the … Continue reading
