2 more everest 5000s and the first 3 LPBR 6000s
The last two LPBR 5000s are less obviously Steinweiss, or at least the Spain one is not obvious. The first three 6000s that I have include Ebony Concerto, which I think is a nice cover.
next few Steinweiss Everest covers, LPBR5000s
It is fun to see the range of things that Steinweiss could do, knowing that the whole series is his. The only one of these I would buy for its beauty is Songs of Hawaii. Gloria Lynne is a fine … Continue reading
next few Steinweiss Everests that I have
These are the next few Everest records with Steinweiss covers. All of these bear the legend: design by Alex Steinweiss. 1958 or 1959. The back covers show Steinweiss’ way with simple repetitive designs. The last one I show is the … Continue reading
Steinweiss at Everest
In 1958 a company called Belock Instruments entered the record market. They made a high quality product – good production, interesting music, and especially good quality covers. They hired Alex Steinweiss to design their entire approach – the labels, the … Continue reading
last few london odds and ends
Two on London’s international label. The Deutsch one is clearly Steinweiss, the Spanish one much less definite. The album on Felsted could be Steinweiss – Felsted is a London budget label, like Columbia Harmony or RCA Camden.
last 3 London SP Phase 4 covers
I don’t think any of these are Steinweiss, but they are all clever enough that I could be wrong. Of hundreds of these Phase 4 covers that I have seen, these are the last few that I even thought had … Continue reading
London Phase 4 SP series
While some of the SPC ones are clearly Steinweiss, the other London Phase 4 series – catalog numbers SP – are not obvious. Could these be Steinweiss covers? I give them a 25% chance.
three more London SPC covers
The Stokowski one is the one that is pictured in a book. What of the other two? Is Overtures good enough to be Steinweiss?
London SPC series – Phase 4 Stereo
One of the last series of covers that Steinweiss worked on were these, the London Phase 4 Stereo covers. All had fold open covers. A few of them appear in the Steinweiss books. These four, or at least three of … Continue reading
