What gets me is the amazing number of different recordings of any of the classicals warhorses by each of the biggest companies. RCA had each of their big name conductors record Scheherazade. So did Columbia. So did London, and Angel. Free market economics is a wonderful thing, and in the hayday of classical music on records, the 1950s and 1960s, their must have been a buck to be made by bringing out a new Scheherazade every two years. Many of the rest of these are repackagings of older recordings.
