Who would have predicted that this particular Steinweiss design would still be in print 60 years later? I guess there is something iconic about the image. I show my copy of the original stereo issue, plus three lp reisssues and three uses of the image on CD covers. All keep at least part of the photo, undoubtedly staged by Steinweiss even if he did not click the shutter. None of these are from my own collection.

    looks like some poor bastard had to airbrush out the original horse for some reason. it does kind of look like herman has a tail in the original photo but i suspect it has more to do with the fact that it looks like he’s violating a tiny horse. love this blog by the way.
