another recent purchases – Hansel and Gretel by Darrill Connelly

The history of lp record covers in the first 5 years 1948 to 1953 fascinates me. Here are two quasi-generic covers for the same music both linked to Alex Steinweiss. The new one, on the left, has Steinweiss’ squares generic cover with a drawing by Darrill Connelly. The other copy has the generic super-thick cardboard with the lp logo, probably Steinweiss, with a sticker also probably Steinweiss that simplifies the original 78 rpm cover. Both came out before 1951.
